Notable Burials

It’s estimated that more than 80,000 individuals are buried at Mount Moriah. In addition to the many veterans buried here, there are 1,000’s of individuals who are notable in their own right—from mayors and baseball players to entertainers and journalists.

The Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery host clean-up events throughout the year. All are welcome to attend!

Historic Mount Moriah

Mount Moriah Cemetery is an historic burial ground incorporated by an Act of the State Legislature in 1855, one of several rural cemeteries developed in Philadelphia between 1845 and 1860. Philadelphia and Yeadon share equal shares of the cemetery, which spans Cobbs Creek.
